Security Guard PositionThe Albuquerque Academy Security Department is seeking an individual for the position of Security Guard. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors while on the Albuquerque Academy campus. The Security Guard patrols campus buildings, walks paths and outdoor open spaces, staffs the main entrance check-in, monitors security cameras to ensure campus safety, and briefs visitors, faculty, staff, and students on school policies as needed. This position is eligible for full benefits, including a generous time off package. The position is open until filled, and applicants are asked to submit a resume along with their online application.Essential FunctionsProtect the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Provide security to Academy property.Monitor security cameras.Assist the students, parents, faculty, and staff who call Security for help.Respond to all alarms, accidents, and intrusions on campus. Prepare reports.Meet and direct any emergency vehicles entering campus.Attend monthly Security training sessions.Assist local law enforcement, EMT, and fire department agencies as needed.Maintain confidentiality.Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.Other ResponsibilitiesProvide security, assistance, and traffic control at special events.Assist Physical Plant departments when needed.Assist with vehicle problems such as locked keys in car, and dead battery assistance.Attend employee meetings as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsEducationA high school diploma or equivalent is required.ExperienceMinimum one year of experience in Security or two years of experience in the military is required.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of radio operation, alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and building operations.Basic computer skills, particularly word processing and e-mail.Special RequirementsA valid Driver's License is required.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Working EnvironmentMajority of work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus.Physical DemandsAbility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without assistanceFrequent lifting, carrying, climbing, and reachingProlonged standing and walkingRegular drivingEEO/ADA ComplianceAlbuquerque Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
